Specific issue and prohibited steps orders at the family court in Tyne and Wear
REVIEWED BY: Sean McNamara on 2026-09-02
How this application works
Where parents cannot agree a single question — school choice, religious upbringing, a change of surname, medical treatment, or taking a child abroad — the court can decide it on a C100 application. A specific issue order decides a disputed question about the child's upbringing; a prohibited steps order stops the other parent from doing something (for example, moving abroad with the child). The same MIAM-first route and £270 fee apply as for child arrangements orders; safeguarding checks by Cafcass follow issue.

What happens after you file
