Support Through Court — the national helpline & online service

REVIEWED BY: Sean McNamara on 2026-08-27

What this service is

If there is no Support Through Court office at your court — or you can't travel — the charity runs national remote services open to anyone in England and Wales:

  • National Helpline: 0300 081 0006 (Monday to Friday, 9:30am–4:30pm) — practical guidance about court procedure, your papers, and what to expect
  • Support Through Court Online — remote appointments by phone or video, covering the same help as an office: form-filling, procedure, statement writing, preparing for a hearing

The charity's volunteers are not solicitors: they give practical and emotional support, not legal advice, and do not represent you.

How to use it

1. Call 0300 081 0006 or book via supportthroughcourt.org 2. Have your case papers to hand 3. Agree a phone/video appointment at a time that suits you

Who it helps

Anyone facing a court hearing without a lawyer — family or civil — anywhere in England and Wales. Free, no means test.

How it fits your family court case

Use the helpline between hearings whenever you're unsure what a form, order or direction means; pair it with the national guides on this site (C100, FL401, preparing for a hearing).
