REVIEWED BY: Sean McNamara on 2026-08-27

What this service is

Support Through Court is an independent charity providing free practical and emotional support to people facing court without a lawyer. Volunteers help you understand procedure, organise papers, fill in forms, write statements and accompany you into hearings. They are not solicitors and do not give legal advice or represent you.

Who it helps

Anyone appearing in the family or civil courts without representation — including at Cardiff Civil and Family Justice Centre. No means test; the service is free.

How to use it

1. Book or enquire through the national helpline 0300 081 0006 (Mon–Fri 9:30–16:30) 2. Or via the Cardiff office listed on supportthroughcourt.org (based at Cardiff Civil and Family Justice Centre, 2 Park Street) 3. Bring your case papers to your appointment

How it fits your family court case

Support Through Court helps at every stage — before a hearing (preparation, forms), on the day (someone by your side), and after (understanding the order and next steps). Pair this page with our Cardiff court guide for venue practicalities. In Wales you can also use Cafcass Cymru services bilingually (see our Cafcass Cymru page).
