Cheltenham family court — where Cheltenham family matters are actually heard
REVIEWED BY: Sean McNamara on 2026-08-27
If you live in or around Cheltenham and need a family court — a child arrangements application (C100 / child arrangements order), a divorce, a financial remedy, a domestic-abuse application (FL401 / non-molestation or occupation order), adoption, or another family matter — the important thing to know is this: there is no separate "Cheltenham County and Family Court." Family work for Cheltenham is heard at:

A note on the name
The venue's full official name tells you everything: "Gloucester and Cheltenham County and Family Court." Cheltenham's family work is not heard at a separate Cheltenham building — it is consolidated at the Gloucester site on Kimbrose Way. (The separate Gloucester Crown Court building, by contrast, handles only criminal cases.) If your notice of hearing names a Cheltenham venue, double-check the address on your paperwork — it should be Kimbrose Way, Gloucester, GL1 2DE.

In short, at a glance:
- Check your court documents. The notice of hearing you receive will name the court and the exact address where you are expected. Trust that over anything you read online.
- Not sure if your matter belongs at Gloucester? Call the HMCTS civil & family enquiries line on 0300 123 5577 — court staff will point you in the right direction.
- Domestic abuse: if you are in immediate danger call 999; the Refuge National Domestic Abuse Helpline is free 24/7 on 0808 2000 247. Use a safe device an abuser cannot access.
